Mammootty’s Karnan is not dropped

One of Megastar Mammootty’s announced projects, Karnan is not dropped. There were reports that when Prithviraj’s movie with the same name was announced, that Mammootty movie Karnan was dropped.  

Since the Prithviraj Movie is tittled as Karnan and the makers had already registered the name, Mammootty movie will have another title, even though the two films will have the same epic character. Dharma Kshetram is the suggested name of Mammootty’s movie on Karnan. But it is not officially announced. 

Actor/director Madhupal will be directing Dharma Kshetram While Karnan will be directed by RS Vimal. The scriptwriter of Mammootty’s Karnan P. Sreekumar himself confirmed that the project is not dropped. He also said that Mammootty will make an official announcement about the movie in 2018.  
The scriptwriter also said that there will be leading technicians as part of the movie. And also the details about the budget of the movie will be announced in January. Prithviraj- RS Vimal movie is made with a budget of 300 crore and above. 

But, as of now the crew has started the pre-production activities of the project. According to sources, the character role of Mammootty as Karnan revolves around the last days of the mythical character. Meanwhile, Mammootty has many other upcoming projects. Masterpiece directed by Ajai Vasudev is an upcoming release of the actor. The movie will hit theatres during this Christmas season. Shamdat movie Streetlight, Gireesh Damodar movie Uncle, Sharrath Sandith movie Parole, Sethu directorial movie Oru Kuttanadan Blog and a Malayalam-Tamil bilingual movie Peranbu are other upcoming movies of Mammootty. 

Thalappavu and Ozhimuri were the last directorial movies of Madhupal. Madhupal made his acting debut through Kashmeeram in 1994 and directorial debut through Thalappavu (2008), which was about Naxal Varghese; it won several awards in 2008. More details about Mammootty’s Karnan will be out soon.
