Priya Anand Cancelled three of her projects for Nivin Pauly’s Kayamkulam Kochunni

It was recently in the headlines that Nivin Pauly’s upcoming movie Kayamkulam Kochunni had a replacement in one of its lead female roles. Actress Amala Paul who was earlier roped in for playing the female lead character was replaced by Priya Anand. 

Reports say that Amala Paul backed out of the project due to her busy schedule. and now reports say that, actress Priya Anand had cancelled three of her projects for Kayamkulam Kochunni. Priya Anand, who had debuted in Mollywood with the Prithviraj film Ezra, has started shooting in Mangalore. 

In an interview to a famous daily, the actress said that she was so excited to join the project. And also she is excited to be back to Mollywood, and that stepping into the location of Kayamkulam Kochunni is like entering another world in the past. The actress is playing the role of the character Janaki in the movie. 

“I have always wanted to do a period film and I was happy when a prestigious project like Kayamkulam Kochunni came my way. What makes it even more special is that it’s with some of the biggest names in Malayalam.” Connecting with her character Janaki has been easy for her, she says, though she is a yesteryear personality. “Except for one thing. It took me a while to get used to my look as Janaki, though it was exciting to get into her avatar. Her story is very much relevant for women everywhere,” said the actress. She also added that, “For Kochunni, I had to give up three films. We are shooting in so many different locations that the film will take up at least four to five months’ time to wrap up. I had to back out of those films I had signed, because of this reason. But I hope it will all be worth it.” 

Director Rosshan Andrrews said about Amala Paul’s replacement that, “Due to the recent rains, there were a few changes in our schedule and that affected Amala’s dates. She is a busy actress in Tamil. That is the only reason Amala had to opt out, and so we brought in Priya Anand and she has already started working on the film.”
