Jayasurya’s Njan Marykutty Movie started rolling today!

Njan Marykutty Movie which marks the fifth association of the hit actor-director duo Jayasurya and Ranjith Sankar, is an ambitious project which has already made titles for its striking concept. The movie has Jayasurya in the role of Marykutty who is touted to be both hero and heroine of the film. This is the first time, the actor is donning a female-get up.

Meanwhile, Njan Marykutty has started rolling today at Muvattupuzha where, incidentally, Ranjith Sankar first met Mammootty to read him the script of his debut directorial Passenger. The director took to his social media page to share a nostalgic note recalling his first ever encounter with a film set.
Ranjith Sankar’s facebook post reads, “Starting Njan Marykutty today at Muvattupuzha in the same location I came to narrate Passenger script to mammukka . It was 2006 and he was shooting Palunku .First time I ever saw a movie set..He loved the script and asked me whom I wanted to direct it.I said only I can direct it.Mammukka laughed and said you can direct. Had he said otherwise I would have never become a director.Attempting my 10th film now. Life indeed comes a full circle. Thanx mammukka.”
The movie which will be produced by Ranjith Sankar’s Dream And Beyond banner and distributed by Punyalan Cinemas, will hit theatres on June 15 as a Ramzan release. According to the actor, the project is a different one.However, the highlight of the movie’s announcement was the first look poster that had the illustration of a sanitary napkin. In an interview, Ranjith said that “I have always done movies that address a serious topic. It is the narrative that will be light and engaging. Njan Marykutty won’t be any different. All I can say at this point is that it will be a different and serious effort on our part.”

Jayasurya and Ranjith Sankar have proved themselves as a hit combo in M-Town, with all their projects, including the latest. Punyalan Private Limited doing well at the box office. The duo has also made Punyalan Agarbattis, Su Su Sudhi Vatmeekam, and Pretham, all commercial success.
