Cricketers with most Player of the Match awards in IPL history

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has become a household name in the country within the last 10 years. Here, is the list of cricketers, who have won the most Player of the Match awards, for their brilliant show in a match.

1.Suresh Raina

It is no surprise that Suresh Raina — IPL’ leading run-getter — features in this list. He has scored 4,540 runs from 161 matches and in his stints for Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Lions, Raina has been awarded the player of the match award 14 times.

2.David Warner

David Warner led Sunrisers Hyderabad to their maiden IPL title in 2016. One of the most destructive openers in world cricket today, Warner has played for Delhi Daredevils and SRH in the IPL over the last 10 years. Like Suresh Raina, Warner too has been adjudged the player of the match 14 times.

3.AB de Villiers

Mr 360, AB de Villiers needs no introduction. A dangerous batsman in any format of the game, de Villiers was retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore recently.He has also represented Delhi Daredevils in the IPL. In 113 matches in the tournament, de Villiers has won the man of the match award 15 times.

4. Yusuf Pathan

Yusuf Pathan has been an impact player in the IPL over the last decade. He can take the game away in a matter of a few deliveries with the bat and also possesses the ability to bowl decent off-spinners.Pathan has won the IPL title with Rajasthan Royals and also Kolkata Knight Riders. He will be playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2018.During his stints with RR and KKR, Pathan has won the man of the match award 16 times.

5. Chris Gayle

Gayle has been dominant in almost all the seasons he has been part of the tournament. He has represented Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore so far. But in IPL 2018, he will play his trade with Kings XI Punjab.Gayle has it 3,626 runs in the tournament’s history from 101 matches and from those games he has been adjudged the player of the match on 18 occasions — the most for any player in the IPL.
