The Orange Cap is a cricket award presented to the leading run scorer in the Indian Premier League. It was introduced on 25 April 2008, a week after the start of the inaugural season of the IPL. The batsman with most runs in the tournament during the course of the season would wear the Orange Cap while fielding, with the overall leading run-scorer at the conclusion of the tournament winning the actual Orange Cap award on the day of the season’s final. Here is the list of Orange Cap winners in Indian Premier League so far.

1.Shaun Marsh Shaun Marsh
Shaun Marsh won it in the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League. Kings XI Punjab player made 616 runs in the 11 matches he played that season.
2.Matthew Hayden Matthew Hayden
He was big and huge at his time. Matthew Hayden was one of the deadliest batsmen who dominated the bowlers from the word go. Former Australian opener scored 572 runs in 12 matches that helped him win the orange cap.
3.Sachin Tendulkar Sachin Tendulkar
Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar in the third season of the IPL win the orange cap as he scored 618 runs in 15 games.
4.Chris Gayle Chris Gayle
The tall West Indies player – Christopher Gayle – one of the finest batsman to grace the shortest format of the game scored 608 runs in 12 matches and won the Orange Cap.
5.Chris Gayle Gayle
Chris Gayle won the Orange Cap in back-to-back years. This time Royal Challengers Bangalore opener made whooping 733 runs in 15 matches.
6. Michael Hussey Michael Hussey
They called him Mr. Cricket for a reason. Michael Hussey was one of the most consistent batsmen of his time and in the sixth season of the IPL – Hussy was the deserving winner of the cap after he made 733 runs in 16 matches.
7. Robin Uthappa Robin Uthappa
Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Robin Uthappa has been one of the most consistent batsmen. He is one of the most important players in the KKR squad and in the seventh season of IPL he made 660 runs in 16 games as he was honoured with the Orange Cap.
8. David Warner David Warner
Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner won it in the 8th season of the IPL – as he made 562 runs in 14 games.
9.Virat Kohli Virat Kohli
Best batsman in the world without any doubt – Kohli was at his best in the ninth season of the league as he made massive 973 runs in the 16 games. The highest in a single season by any player so far.
10. David Warner Warner
David Warner finds him on the list for the second time. In the last season of the IPL – Australian and SRH opener made 641 runs in 14 games and was handed, Orange Cap.
