The reason behind why Yuzvendra Chahal wears glasses while fielding!

It is already noted that Yuzvendra Chahal, the leg-spinner of Indian Cricket team wears glasses duing fielding. During the first T20I between India and South Africa at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg on Sunday, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was seen using glasses while fielding.

In recent past, the only cricket one can recall wearing glasses while playing is former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori and Zimbabwe’s Charles Coventry. However, unlike both these cricketers, Chahal was not wearing glasses all the time as while bowling, he was seen without them. As reported by Mid-Day, Chahal’s father KK Chahal revealed it’s a precautionary measure and not to worry. 
“Before going on the tour to South Africa, Yuzvendra was advised by an eye specialist to wear glasses occasionally. So, though he does not wear them while bowling or batting, he does so while fielding,” Chahal’s father said.”His eye sight is not very weak but he was advised to use glasses when he underwent medical tests which were compulsory before taking up his new job as an Income Tax inspector. Yuzvendra will be joining office in Delhi as soon as he returns from South Africa”, added senior Chahal.

Chahal is not the only Indian player in the current team who use glasses on field. Captain Virat Kohli and wicket-keeper MS Dhoni do wear but not while playing. Moreover, there have been quite a few cricketers who used glasses throughout their career, whether they are playing or not. 

The list includes some of the great cricketers such as, Virender Sehwag, Clive Llyod, Eddie Barlow and Geoff Boycott. Chahal has been in tremendous form with ball. In the recently concluded 6-ODI series, Chahal was India’s go-to bowler as he inflicted 16 wickets at 16.37 including a five-wicket haul as well.
