Soubin Shahir’s Sudani from Nigeria is a Comedy-Family drama!

Soubin Shahir’s upcoming movie Sudani from Nigeria is not only a fil that revolves around film but also it is a comic family entertainer drama. It is a comic family drama which is set in the season of Seven’s football in Malabar areas where African actor Samuel Abiola Robinson plays one of the major characters. 

The movie is written by Zakariya while Shahabaz Aman and Anwar Ali have written the songs which are composed by Rex Vijayan. Earlier, the song ‘Kurra,’ from the film had gone viral, which features the on-the-ground moves of Samuel’s character. It is produced by Sameer Thahir and Shyju Khalid (who also did the cinematography). In the film, a Nigerian soccer player joins a club in Malappuram, Kerala for the sevens football match. 

Sudani from Nigeria is set to be released in March 2018. Sevens football matches are held during November in the Malabar region in Kerala and the film is set in that backdrop, but according to Zakariya, it is not a sports film, rather a “comic family drama”. 
The film marks Robinson’s debut Malayalam and foreign film. In the film, he plays Samuel, a Nigerian footballer brought to Kerala to play the sevens football match in Malappuram. Shahir plays his manager, Majeed. Despite Nigeria being popular for football, Robinson was not interested in the game, he said: “I belong to the 0.001 percent population of my country that is not interested in football”. He underwent training in Kerala. The film had a 35-day long shoot in Malappuram, few scenes were shot in Nigeria. 

This is for the first time the Soubin is playing the lead role in a movie. It was only recently the actor made his debut directorial movie Parava. Parava was a hit at the box office and was also widely appreciated for its making. Dulquer Salmaan played an extended cameo role in the movie. Parava said the story of Pigeon race and the two boys who were the central characters of the movie. The movie was set in Kochi.
