Jhanvi Kapoor’s Bollywood debut ‘Dhadak’ to get a release on July 20!

Actress Sridevi Kapoor’s anf Filmmaker Boney Kapoor’s daughter Jhanvi Kapoor is making her Bollywood debut with the movie Dhadak along with Shahid Kapoor’s bother Ishaan Khattar. Karan Johar has announced the release date for Dhadak, a remake of the Marathi hit, Sairat, which will mark the Bollywood debuts of Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar. The film will release across India on July 20.Karan, who produced the film through Dharma Productions, took to Twitter and Instagram to announce the news, which he accompanied with a new poster featuring the two leads. 

Dhadak, directed by Shashank Khaitan, tells the love story between an upper caste girl and lower caste boy. Sairat, which released in 2016, quickly went on to become one of the highest grossing Marathi films ever. It made an estimated Rs 1.22 billion (Rs 120 crores) in worldwide collection. Directed by Nagraj Manjule, it starred Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar.

While Janhvi will make her long-awaited debut in the movie, Dhadak is not Ishaan’s first film. He has worked with acclaimed Iranian director Majid Majidi in Beyond The Clouds.The film was announced when Karan unveiled the poster of the movie on November 15. Shashank, who last directed Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan in Badrinath Ki Dulhania, is back to the director’s chair with Dhadak. 

In an interview, director Shashank, who will work with Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi for the first time, praised the star kids. “The prep work for the film began sometime back and I have been working with them. They (Janhvi and Ishaan) are great people and are very hardworking, these are two things that I always look for in actors. They are good people who respect others and are dedicated to their work and ready to give their best.”
