Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) is an association of film actors working in Malayalam cinema. The association was the first of its kind in India, and the functioning of it led to the formation of actors guilds in other regional languages as well.
To be a professional platform where open and healthy discussion under the ambit of professional concern is encouraged.
To act as arbitrators in disputes that are submitted or related to its members.
To promote and develop better relations between its members and other associations.
To create and develop fellowship among the members.
To protect and help to enrich economical status of the members.
To extend financial assistance to its members who have retired, disabled or in distress.
The membership is restricted to actors in feature films and will be admitted on the prescribed application forms with specified fees to the Executive Committee of the Association. The Governing body is the final authority to allocate the type of membership and its decision shall be final in the matter.
Types of Membership include :
Ordinary Membership – The member artiste who could not be classified as life member for want of experience, acceptance or standing in the field shall be classified as Ordinary Member.
Life Membership – A person who is a full-time actor in feature films for a period not less than one year and stands approved by the members in the Governing body is eligible to become a life member by paying the specified fees.
Honorary Membership – A person who is admitted based on honor and stands approved by the members in the Governing body is eligible to become an honorary member. Honorary members are waived from paying fees.
Currently 460 actors have taken membership in this association.
