Padman featuring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in the lead roles was directed by R Balki. Akshay Kumar is setting the box office cash registers ringing with Padman, the story of Tamil Nadu’s Arunachalam Muruganantham, who revolutionized low-cost sanitary napkins for women. As per the figures that have come in since its release on February 9 till Monday – the film has made Rs 45.92 crore (India) and Rs 14.84 crore in the overseas market. Akshay-Kumar-Padman-Movie-poster-first-look
There is no news about the female lead(s) for the Tamil Version as yet and no official confirmation as yet. However, the possibility looks promising. After all, Padman is a story that deserves to be taken to as many people as possible so that it can change those many mindsets and lives of women. 625043-padman

Since Dhanush has his plate full right now – with his schedule being packed with films like Maari 2, Hollywood debut The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir and Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta, he may give a nod to Padman and make an official confirmation only once he is free of his current commitments. Akshay_Kumar

Akshay’s Padman is based on his wife Twinkle Khanna’s book – The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad and it is inspired by the real-life story of Arunachalam Muruganantham. More details about the Tamil version will be soon out and we can wait for an official confirmation about the project.
