The latest update from Mollywood is that Angamaly Diaries fame Antony Varghese has been roped in for Mani Ratnam’s upcoming Multi-starrer movie. We had already reported that ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam is pulling off a casting coup by roping in Arvind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil and Simbu for his next bilingual multi-starrer project. antony_varghese

In September, it was confirmed via an official statement that the filmmaker has indeed signed these actors, apart from Jyothika and Aishwarya Rajesh. And the latest addition is that Malayalam actor Antony Varghese, last seen in the critically-acclaimed film Angamaly Diaries, has landed a crucial role in the highly anticipated multi-starrer. The news has not been confirmed yet but rumours say that Antony is part of the bilingual. Antony is currently awaiting the release of his second movie in Malayalam, Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil by debutant Tinu Pappachan. antony-varghese.jpg.image.784.410
Contrary to rumours that Vijay Sethupathi might be playing a cameo, reliable sources have confirmed that he plays a full-length character and will be seen as a cop. After making an impact as a rough-and-tough cop in Sethupathi, it’ll be really interesting to see Vijay don khaki for the second time. The film also stars senior actors Prakash Raj and Jayasudha, who have worked together in several films. mani-ratnam

Apparently, they’ll be seen playing a pair and Arvind Swami, Fahadh and Simbu will be seen as their sons, a reliable source has revealed. Jyothika and Aishwarya will play pivotal roles and the source reiterated that the regular shooting will commence from late January or early February. This untitled project has music by AR Rahman and cinematography by Santosh Sivan. Mani_Ratnam

A source close to Ratnam confirmed the film will be an action-thriller and will be a departure from the filmmaker’s usual style of films. Ratnam has pinned high hopes on this project following the debacle of Kaatru Veliyidai, which sank without a trace at the box-office. The movie will be produced by Madras Talkies, Mani Ratnam’s own Company.
