Actress Trisha is the first South Indian actor to get the UNICEF celebrity advocate status

Actress Trisha Krishnan will now work for the rights of children including adolescents and young people since she was conferred with the UNICEF celebrity advocate status on Monday in Chennai. She will lend support to efforts to address issues such as anemia, child marriage, child labor and child abuse, especially in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Chief of UNICEF office Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Job Zachariah was quoted as saying that Trisha was an “icon for the adolescents and young people”. He said that “She has the power to amplify the children’s issues and address the violation of child rights in the family, community and in public spaces.” He also said that She will also promote education and health of adolescents and the value of girl child in family and society.
The UNICEF release said that Trisha was the first film actor from South India to receive the recognition by UNICEF. Trisha herself assured that she will commit herself to create more awareness on health, education, nutrition and protection of children, especially the adolescents and young people in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.  In her speech during the function, she also added that “I would support the efforts of the government to make Tamil Nadu malnutrition-free and open defecation free.” On her official Twitter account she posted a photo of her with the caption,”And today, I began a new journey #UNICEFCelebrityAdvocate #WorldChildren’sDay #November20 #2017 #promisetodomybest #overwhelmed #blessedbeyonddoubt.” Trisha also has many films in her Kitty. This year she is also making her Malayalam debut with Shyamaprasad’s movie Hey Jude. In the movie, she will be sharing screen space with Malayalam star Nivin Pauly. In Hey Jude, she will be playing the character named Crystal. Mohini, Garjanai, Sathuranga Vettai 2, 1818 and 96 are her upcoming movies.
