Actors Unni Mukundan and Anoop Menon pledged to donate their eyes

Mollywood actors Unni Mukundan and Anoop Menon on Monday pledged to donate their eyes. Along with the actors the team of their upcoming movie Chanakyathanthram, directed by Kannan Thamarakulam, too joined them and marked the beginning of the film’s shooting. 

In an interview to a famous daily Unni Mukundan said that, “I am 30 now and I felt it is time to sign up. I always had this urge to be part of an eye donation movement, but due to lack of awareness, I always had an impression that they would pluck out my eyes and it will be horrible. That’s why I kept delaying it.” And also he said that what made him take this decision, “A week ago, I got to know that a father named his son after me, out of love for my characters. I was deeply moved and felt I should do something for the society. We made it a public affair, hoping that it will definitely influence a few,” added the actor.
Unni Mukundan said that,he believes it is his responsibility to bring those in darkness to the world of light. “It is a beautiful world and what better can we do than donating our organs to those in need when we leave the world?” he says.His decision has also prompted many to join him. “My parents, friends and even colleagues joined me without hesitation and I believe if I can inspire at least five, my job is done,” he says. 

His co-star Anoop Menon is also part of the noble initiative. “It is something beautiful that we all should opt for as it’s a bit of humanity we are leaving behind even after we leave the world. By donating an organ, we are giving a new life to someone,” he says. 

The director of the movie Kannan Thamarakulam says that, “When Unni expressed his wish, I offered him full support. We have more than fifty technicians who have taken the pledge in our team.” Apart from Unni and Anoop Menon the movie Chanakyathanthram will also have Sshivada, Sruthi Ramachandran, Sai Kumar, Ramesh Pisharody, Hareesh Kanaran, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Sambath, Jayan Cherthala, Sohan Seenulal, Dracula Sudheer, Muhammed Faisal, Arun and Niyas.
